March 2010
Here’s what my to-do list looks like now:
- Go through all my Google alerts that I’ve failed to check since Christmas.
- Pick out a class ring.
- Get dad to hook up wireless internet.
Watch Miss Congeniality.- Download a bajillion Beetles songs.
Charge my phone.Charge my iPod.Learn a new song on guitar.
I also watched about half of Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous. Aaaaand, that’s pretty much all I did all day. Now, I’m going to bed because I have softball practice 8-10, but I’m leaving at nine because I have to go to church. Because it’s Palm Sunday.
HOSANNAH.

Love this book. So so SO good. :)

HAHAHA, I love that right now, in my head, I’m thinking, “Hm. This shouldn’t be that hard.” Watch me get about 2 of those things done. Aaaaand, GO. :)
Have you ever had one of those moments that you’ll never forget? You might remember it because it made you unbelievably happy. Or sad. Or embarrassed. Or ______ (<—insert some other emotion here.) The other day I had one of those moments - and it was for a good reason. :)
You know those unbelievably, genuinely, almost-too-good-to-be-true, really NICE PEOPLE? There’s not that many left. I’m lucky enough to know a few. This moment revolves around Katie (with an E. The other unbelievably, genuinely, almost-too-good-to-be-true, really nice person I know is Kati with an I. Just sayin’.) who is also known as KMitchhh.
So, it was my first game of the season, on a JV team, but all of Varsity was there, and it was very much like your first Varsity game. You’re very nervous. You know all the girls on the team, but you haven’t really been “accepted”, so-to-speak. “Inducted” works, too. Anyway, you’re constantly trying to please them, and prove to them that you’re not a total moron, and can actually play softball. The fact that you’re trying to please them makes it just that much harder. All you really need is some confidence. Some support from them would be nice.
Well, Katie is the kind of person that you can’t describe in words. She’s funny, she makes dirty jokes, but she’s a church girl & quiet. And sweet. And awesome. And SO, SO, SO NICE.
She heard me talking to one of my freshman-friends about how nervous I got when I was batting. No matter how many times I’ve batted (lots), or how suckish the pitcher was (in this case, very), I still get so nervous that I can’t even think straight. She didn’t really let-on that she knew, but I saw her turn around & kind of give that, “I heard you. Neener!” look on her face. But it was the nice “neener.” Fer sher. So I knew she heard me. But I didn’t let on that I knew she knew either.
I was in the on-deck circle, about to hit, and out of no where, she says to me through the fence, “You just have to be confident. You got this.” Which, in softball world, “you got this” is the highest form of support. Plus, the gesture had me acting like a total goof. Genuine kindness…from a junior. I was smiling so big I thought I was gonna explode.
So I got up there to bat, with the bases loaded, still nervous, but significantly less so than normal. I was ready to crush that ball. So what did I do?…I walked. Sigh.
BUT THAT IS NOT WHAT THIS BLOG IS ABOUT. Do you realize how nice that gesture was, or at least how it seemed to me? Or how long I’m going to remember it? I can’t even describe how sincerely nice that girl was then, and is now. Not to mention the million other things she’s been so nice about. End of positive/happy rant. :)
P.S. She has a killer British accent. “Bahnds of Yew-knit-ee.”
As in our varsity won 15-0 after 3 innings, and us (JV) played their varsity and won by more than 20-0 in six. Yeah.
Scrimmages…sigh.
I’m in Career Prep right now, watching boring Powerpoint presentations.
Then, since it’s Wednesday and we get out at two, rather than three, I’m going to an hour long study hall in the library, where every one listens to their iPods, and texts on their cell phones, and no one ever really accomplishes much of anything.
But do you know what comes after the study hall?
THE FIRST GAME OF THE YEAR! :D
Okay. So it’s just a scrimmage. But it’s still a game. :)
Unfortunately, it’s gonna take forever:
- The field is crap, so there’s gonna be tons of errors.
- This equals fewer outs.
- This means longer innings.
- This means longer games.
- We have to wait for Varsity to play first.
- That doesn’t start till 4:30.
- THEN we play.
- It’s gonna get dark for we’re done.
- I’m also concerned about how/where we’re supposed to get dinner.
- I’m also kind of wondering why my school has never had a concession stand for baseball/softball games.
OKAY, I’M DONE NOW. Bye-bye. :)
I’m sick of people’s negativity. It’s not that big of a deal. It’s not going to hurt you. You’re going to laugh. Just get over yourself. Please. While I’m (bored in English class) ranting, let’s talk about other things that annoy me.
Lazy people. I’m not saying that I’m NOT a lazy person, because I am. “Humans by nature are lazy.” But it’s those really lazy people that don’t do ANYTHING. I recently had to do two group projects. In both groups, I had someone who wouldn’t do anything. We had to do everything for them, and hold their hand through everything. I’d rant more, but the bell’s about to ring. Frenchhhh. :P
